Last Updated: August 18, 2023

In this article you will know the answer to the query “15 White Dogs With Blue Eyes“.

We have good news and bad news for you if you want a dog breed with a solid white coat and blue eyes.

Your search for the perfect dog breed is over as there is only one breed that combines these two qualities.

15 White Dogs With Blue Eyes

Unfortunately you will not be able to find a Husky unless you were after one.

The coat of any other breed of dog that has blue eyes will be partly white.

I compiled my list based on breed standards established by the American Kennel Club (AKC).

Google Images’ gallery of white dog breeds with blue eyes is far smaller than this list of white dog breeds with blue eyes.

There is no doubt why blue eyes are so attractive to dogs because they are a thing of beauty…

However blue eyes can also cause blindness and deafness in the wrong breed of dog.

This is why there are so many regulations around dog breeds.

Therefore I have divided my list of fourteen breeds of white dogs with blue eyes into three sections.

Breeds with blue eyes are only found in the first two sections.

  • Breeds of dogs where blue eyes are allowed with solid white coats
  • Breeds of dogs with white coats and blue eyes
  • Blue eyes are forbidden in dog breeds with a solid white coat

A. Dog breeds with solid white dogs where blue eyes are allowed

1. Siberian Husky

The Siberian Husky is your best option if you’re looking for a white dog not just for its beauty but also because it is one of the few dogs with blue eyes and a white coat. It is rare to find a pure white Siberian Huskie as most of these dogs have black silver or gray markings on their medium-length coats.

First-time pet parents may find it a challenge to train a Siberian Husky as they are very energetic and not so easy to train. Males reach a height of 23 inches (58 cm) and weigh 35 to 60 lbs (15 to 27 kg) at full maturity.

2. Harlequin Great Dane

One could mistake a Harlequin Great Dane for a Dalmatian as both breeds have large black patches on a white coat.

AKC describes the white-based short shiny coat as harlequin; puppies with few black markings are possible.

A Great Dane can grow up to 31 inches (78 cm) in height and weigh up to 180 pounds (82 kg). Zeus who stood 111.8cm (44 in) at the shoulder set the breed record for this breed.

Although Great Danes are large dogs they are very affectionate towards their owners. Perhaps that is why the ‘gentle giant’ is so beloved.

3. Shetland Sheepdog

Just prior to the Merle Shetland with one blue eye the video will start!

Shelties originate in the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland and belong to the herding dog group.

An undercoat of short warm hairs and an outer coat of long silky hairs with rough hairs are present on these dogs.

Sable bicolor (black and white) and tricolor (white black and tan) coats are available. A Shetland Sheepdog with a modified merle coat will usually have lighter colors and blue eyes.

In males the height can reach 16 inches (41 cm) and the weight can reach 24 pounds (11 kg). Some find shelties a bit too protective due to their herding instincts but they are very gentle and make excellent therapy dogs.

4. Old English Sheepdog

Before the Old English sheepdog with blue eyes appears in the video the video will begin

The Old English Sheepdog known for its shaggy coat is known as a mellow and gentle animal. Dogs with these markings are generally gray grizzled or blue.

An OES can sometimes be almost completely white although this is not the standard color of this breed as recognized by the American Kennel Club.

On the head and neck as well as the outer coat it is long and wavy.

This large breed measures 22 inches (55 cm) tall and weighs up to 100 pounds (45 kg) and although it has a distinctive bear-shuffle gait it still requires a great deal of exercise.

Due to their large coats OES is known for excessive drooling and heavy shedding.

5. Cardigan Welsh Corgi (merle)

The short legs and sturdy bodies of these Welsh Corgis allow them to be easily recognized. Because they are low to the ground they can nip at the ankles of cattle without being hit. Their coats are medium-length and come in two colors: a combination of red brindle blue merle and black. The majority of dogs have white paws white markings on their heads and even a full white collar. Corgis rarely grow taller than 10 inches and weigh less than 38 pounds (17 kg) due to their short legs. Since Corgis tend to be a bit stubborn good training and early socialization are vital for them.

6. Miniature American Shepherd

This little cutie is an all-American herding dog from California with looks brains agility and an eagerness to please that makes him an easy dog to train.

MASS comes in a variety of colors including black blue merle red and red merle with white markings on the head and collar.

Medium-length fur covers the coat and the hair on the legs is long and feathery. Straight or wavy hair can be found on the legs.

A male adult can reach a height of 18 inches (45 cm) and weigh up to 40 pounds (18 kg).

7. Catahoula Leopard Dog

The Catahoula is a beautiful animal with leopard spots that lend him his name. It is an American animal.

This breed has its roots in Louisiana and its name Catahoula comes from the Choctaw language and means sacred lake’. Several colors are available for their short-haired coats including black blue white merle brindle red and chocolate.

A few have white or tan markings alongside the spots. It is a medium-sized dog with a height of up to 24 inches (60 cm) and a weight of up to 95 pounds (43 kg). Besides being a very affectionate companion the Catahoula can also be used for hunting and herding.

8. Rough Collie

This beautiful merle-coated Rough Collie has blue eyes and a beautiful merle coat

These dogs also known as Long-Haired Collie are very resilient and can be very vocal when they want to be heard.

Although the AKC and the CKC consider the smooth-coated Collie to be a variant of this breed these dogs are distinguished by their long rough coats. For most of the body except for the head which is usually tricolor Rough Collies can be sable and white blue merle tricolor (black base coat) and even white.

There are roughly 22 and 25-inch males (55.8 to 66 cm) in height and 44–75 lbs (20–34 kg) in weight.

9. Border Collie

This is Disney a blue and merle Border Collie

A Border Collie has a smooth rough or semi-rough topcoat and a silky undercoat. This breed can be solid-colored (although this is rare) bicolored or tricolored the base color is black white blue merle red merle blue brindle or orange.

Collies weigh between 6 – 9 pounds (14 – 20 kg) and are as tall as 22 inches (56 cm). As one of the most intelligent breeds border collies require a lot of physical and mental stimulation. Their behavior will suffer when they become bored.

10. Australian Shepherd

How about this for cute?

Australians are medium-sized sturdy and elegant. Their strong herding instinct makes them closely related to Border Collies.

The most common colors for Australian Shepherds are black red blue merle and red merle although most of these dogs have white collars and paws. Its not unusual to find an Aussie with curly hair but its not the norm. Australian Shepherds weigh 40-70 lbs (18-32 kg) at full maturity and stand up to 23 in (58 cm) tall.

In addition to being excellent sports dogs and willing to play frisbee with you Australian Shepherds can be trained as service dogs search and rescue dogs or therapy dogs.

C. Dog breeds with a solid white coat where blue eyes are “forbidden”

11. White Swiss Shepherd

Almost identical to the German Shepherd in temperament a White Swiss Shepherd is very energetic and loyal. Although it was bred from the German Shepherd the White Swiss Shepherd also known as the Berger Blanc is not recognized by the AKC as a separate breed. White dogs hair is a bit wavy and medium-length.

White Swiss Shepherds weigh between 66 and 88 pounds (30 and 40 kilograms) and can reach a shoulder height of 24 – 26 inches (60 – 66 cm).

12. Samoyed

Dogs of this type have thick outer coats that appear white but are actually tipped with silver. Dogs have a coarse long outer coat but a soft fluffy undercoat that keeps them warm. The Samoyedic people of northern Russia used these dogs as herding dogs in Siberia where they originated. In terms of size Samoyeds are medium-sized dogs weighing between 44 and 66 pounds (20 and 30 kilograms) and reaching heights of 8.3 to 9.3 inches (21 to 23.5 centimeters).

13. Coton de Tulear

This small merry-go-lucky dog has great hair and is the official dog of Madagascar. His long soft white hair earned him the nickname Cotton. Many dogs of this breed are bicolored (black and white) or even tricolored (black white and tan). Furthermore although most Coton de Tulear dogs have smooth silky hair some have curly hair.

As these dogs enjoy playing and performing tricks such as walking on their hind legs adopting a Coton de Tulear is like having a personal entertainer.

They grow to a height of 9.8 to 11.8 inches (25 to 30 cm) and weigh around 13 to 18 pounds (6 to 8 kg).

14. Dogo Argentino

Dogo Argentinos are quite big dogs. This is no surprise since they were bred for big game hunting and the Great Dane is one of their ancestors. Several Dogo Argentinos may have a black spot on their short white coat.

Adult males measure 24–27 in (60–68 cm) tall and weigh 88–99 lb (40–45 kg). These dogs have been used as search-and-rescue and service dogs since the 1950s. When they’re with their families they’re extremely playful and always involved in the action.

15. American Eskimo dog

During WWI there was a strong anti-German sentiment in the US so they rebranded themselves as American Eskimo belonging to the Spitz family of German ancestry. Dogs with this coat have long silky hair which is soft to the touch.

There are toy versions that are 9–12 inches (22–30 cm) tall and weigh 5–10 pounds (2.2–4.5 kg) and a standard version that is up to 20 inches (50 cm) tall and 40 pounds (18 kg).

Although originally bred for guard duty they make excellent circus performers due to their intelligence obedience and eagerness to please.
